My Home in April - Easter Blog Hop

Carly from A Cup Full of Glitter knows that I love changing the decoration in my home to celebrate the changes in seasons and upcoming holidays so she invited me to join her in an Easter Blog Hop.

I am extremely blessed that I have a Mother that is equally loves decorating her home with seasonal decorations so I have big box of fun Spring and Easter themed items that she has sent me from the USA and several Easter crafting projects from the last couple years to decorate with. The "Spring" pastel letters was a crafting project from last year. I purchased the papar mache 20 cm (8 inches) letters and pastel paints from my local Hobbycraft. These letter required several layers of paint but low-odour paint allowed me leave letters to dry in my kitchen before painting the next layer. This "Spring" decor will be left up past Easter. The fluffy yellow chicks was a fun addition.

I must admit that I am still a little confused by the fact that Easter was in March this year. I always look forward to celebrating Easter in early April. I really love when we have cheerful seasonal decorations around the home so I am displaying some Easter decorations for a little bit longer this year. For this month, I was going to try to document the first weekend in April but it was a weekend filled with husband trying to recover from back pain and daughter fighting a tummy bug. There would have been lots of photos of sleeping children and a messy home.

I have decided to instead feature our Easter Sunday filled with lots of colour, fun and chocolate treats.

My Childhood Easter Memories

As we prepare our English home for Easter Sunday, I can not help thinking about my happy childhood memories of Easters growing up in USA. My parents would create a Easter Sunday that was filled with hunting for colourful eggs, pastel coloured candy, yummy food and special gifts to prepare for Spring days.

DIY Easy Bunny Decoration with Laura Ashley Wallpaper and Paint

The spring flowers are blooming and it is time to add some spring colours to your home. The new Spring/Summer Collection at Laura Ashley has inspired me to create a quick and easy project in preparation for the visit from the Easter Bunny. I wanted to create a decorative item that would be a quick and budget-friendly project. I created a home decor item using a paper mache bunny shape and a couple of my favourite Laura Ashley wallpapers and paint.

For this project, I used a two pieces of Laura Ashley wallpaper and sample pot of paint. The cost of the paint and paper mache bunny for project cost me less than £10. Laura Ashley's range of paints coordinate with their wallpaper collections. I chose to use Chalk Pink paint with Abbeville Pink Wallpaper and Geranium Pale Topaz Green Floral Wallpaper. Both this wallpapers have elements of the chalk pink colour included in their flower designs.

The spring flowers blooming reminds us that winter is almost over and spring is coming.  It is time to start thinking about Easter baskets and gifts.  I love shopping for Easter presents for my children and myself.
